An inmate has died after being found unresponsive in the federal prison in Leavenworth Sunday.

Chirstian Rivera-Carrion, 30, was found around 9:42 p.m. at the Federal Correctional Institution in Leavenworth, authorities said Monday. Employees initiated life-saving measures and he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a Federal Bureau of Prisons press release.

No one else was injured.

Officials did not specify what caused Rivera-Carrion’s death. The FBI has been notified of the death.

Rivera-Carrion was sentenced in the Southern District of Texas to 87 months in prison for illegally re-entering the country after an aggravated felony conviction and illegal alien transportation for private or financial gain, according to the release.

Rivera-Carrion had been in custody at FCI Leavenworth, a medium security facility, since Oct. 17, 2024.
