Driver hospitalized after speeding car strikes four vehicles at two Johnson County intersections
A driver of a car that police said was speeding on Mission Road in Overland Park suffered life-threatening injuries Monday fternoon when the car struck four vehicles at two intersections.
Another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crashes.
The crashes occurred shortly before 4:50 p.m. at the height of the evening’s commute.
A man in his 30s was driving a black Mazda south on Mission road when his car struck another vehicle at West 95th Street, police said in a release. The Mazda continued south on Mission at high speeds and ran a red light at West 103rd Street, where it collided with three other vehicles.
The driver of the Mazda suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Police found several guns inside the Mazda, but it was not known if they played any role in the crashes.
Police said there were no reports of any other crimes in the area or calls of shots fired. Overland Park and Prairie Village police continue to investigate the crashes.
