Munday on Monday: Doctor’s office
Doctor’s office
So in the doctor’s office, in the little room I wait
While entertained by what I hear — in fact, I’ll demonstrate:
The bunions, scabs and earaches and a sunburn that turned worse;
From room to left and room to right I hear from doctor — nurse —
The maladies of patients in adjoining rooms proclaimed;
I hear the staff (while on the phone) repeating callers’ names
With tangles of insurance claims, which lead to payment crunch,
And whom the staff is dating and their plans today for lunch.
So all the laws of privacy amid these office stalls
Are thoroughly negated by these tissue paper walls!
