One injured during weekend robbery at Earl’s Premier restaurant in Brookside
One person was injured in a robbery at Earl’s Premier restaurant in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood late Saturday night, police said.
The robbery happened at the restaurant’s 651 E. 59th St. location around 11 p.m. Saturday, police said.
In an initial statement about the incident on Monday, Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, said officers had determined both the business and patrons were robbed as two men entered the restaurant and demanded money.
But after the restaurant released a statement Tuesday saying no guests were injured or present during the robbery, DiMartino said investigators were working to clarify details about the incident.
In a social media post Tuesday, the restaurant said no guests were present but a staff member suffered a minor injury during the incident. That person didn’t need to go to a hospital and was recovering, the restaurant said.
“The safety and comfort of our guests, along with the incredible staff we have the privilege to work with every day, remain our top priorities,” restaurant ownership said.
“As a locally owned establishment, we value the strong connections we share with the Kansas City community. In response to this incident, we are actively evaluating our security measures and working closely with law enforcement and city officials, whose assistance has been invaluable as we move forward. Thank you again for your continued support. Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year in 2025!”
