If Santa is real — and why would we think otherwise? — he will get us an invitation to Heidi Gardner’s Christmas party next year.

Or, if you are reading this, Heidi ...

Over the weekend the Kansas City native and “Saturday Night Live” star shared photos of the holiday shindig she hosted at her fabulous mid-century modern home in Johnson County, her “sexy, chic time capsule.”

She designed the home for guests and entertaining, and she has met her goal with style.

Ever the gracious hostess, she tagged the Kansas City vendors who helped turn the private party into the soiree of the season — with a white elephant exchange, too. She posted several photos to her Instagram Stories.

Befitting the groovy home Architectural Digest featured in October in one of its “Open Door” house tours, the night had a distinct retro feel, right down to the wrapping paper.

The Cottage Rose, a floral design studio in downtown Kansas City, emphasized the throwback decor by hanging long strands of red ribbon and glittery old-school tinsel from houseplants and wreaths. (We are so stealing this idea next year.)

Gardner gave a thumbs-up to the Kansas City caterer, Dispatch Pizza, known for bringing a wood-fired oven and Neapolitan-style pizza to events in a vintage 1949 International Harvester pickup.

She declared the chocolate dessert from a small cottage business, Little Butter Bakery, “the best brownie I’ve ever had.”

The bakery’s Brownie Wreaths, like the one Gardener served, are made from a dark chocolate fudge-like brownie topped with a toasted honey dark chocolate ganache and decorated with fruit — fresh, candied and dried.

The centerpiece of the party appears to have been an ice sculpture from Krystal Creations in Liberty, filled with holiday spirits and outfitted with a hose.
