Midday squalls down trees, power lines, mostly in Johnson County
KCP&L crews worked Saturday to restore electricity to thousands of customers, primarily in Overland Park, after storms blew through the area late in the morning.
By about 7 p.m., the number of remaining power outages reported by KCP&L was down to about 1,025. Earlier in the day, as many as 5,225 customers had lost power.
Winds downed some trees and power lines in an area generally bounded by Nieman Road on the west, State Line Road on the east, 63rd Street on the north, and 103rd Street on the south.
Saturday evening, power had yet to be restored to some pockets of homes south of 95th Street and Mission Road, west of 83rd Street and Metcalf Avenue, and near 69th and Antioch Road.
Scattered outages, along with scattered showers, were reported elsewhere in the Kansas City area.
