Two people are dead after a single vehicle accident in Kansas City Saturday afternoon.

A gray Honda was speeding west on 23rd Street near Stark Avenue around 2:45 p.m. when it went off the road and into an embankment, causing it to overturn several times, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

Both people were ejected from the car. Neither of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to police.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other at a local hospital, according to Becchina.

These deaths mark the 91st and 92nd traffic fatalities in Kansas City this year, according to data tracked by the Kansas City Police Department.
