Lenexa police search for man caught on video punching teen employee at clothing store

The Lenexa Police Department is searching for a man who was caught on camera assaulting a teenage retail employee Wednesday afternoon, along with his accomplice.

The battery took place at discount department store ½ of ½ Brand Name Clothing, located at 8800 Marshall Drive in Lenexa.

Lenexa police released a video of the attack from store surveillance footage around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. The man, wearing black pants and a black hoodie, is shown running up to the employee from behind and punching him in the head.

The video then shows the suspect, along with a second identically dressed man, leaving the store. Police believe both men fled the scene in a white, newer-model Nissan Altima.

The 15-year-old employee has not been publicly named. Police believe the attack was unprovoked.

“The suspects were observed acting suspiciously inside the store before one of them unexpectedly punched the employee in the back of the head,” the Lenexa Police Department wrote on social media Wednesday afternoon.

½ of ½ Brand Name Clothing declined to comment on the incident.

“We’ve turned it over to the police and they’re taking it from here,” a store manager told The Star.
