Independence man charged with five counts of child molestation: Court documents
An Independence man has been charged with five counts of child molestation after allegedly sexually abusing a child younger than 12, along with another adult who allegedly participated in the abuse.
Cory Vincent Theel, 33, allegedly sexually abused the child throughout October and November 2024, according to court documents. On at least five occasions during that time, he allegedly forced the victim to perform oral sex on him, along with molesting the victim, making forced contact with the victim’s genitals and self-gratifying in front of the victim.
Theel allegedly told the victim to keep the abuse a secret. An adult in the home discovered the abuse on Nov. 15 after seeing the child putting her dolls into sexual positions and saying that the dolls were “sleeping,” according to court documents.
Another adult allegedly witnessed the abuse on at least one occasion, according to court documents. However, instead of stepping in, the adult then performed oral sex on Theel in front of the victim, court documents read.
The accomplice allegedly also took pornographic photos and videos of the child in Theel’s bedroom, court documents read. On several occasions, Theel allegedly forced the child to watch pornographic material on his cellphone.
Charges against Theel were filed Thursday; he is being held on a $50,000 cash bond. His next court date has not yet been set.
