A window washer became stuck and had to be rescued after he was left hanging by a safety line Wednesday morning about eight floors up a high-rise building in south Kansas City, a fire department spokesman said.

Firefighters responded about 8:40 a.m. to the building at 903 E. 104th Street, south of Interstate 435 near Homes Road, said Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins with the Kansas City Fire Department.

Firefighters tried to use a ladder truck with an aerial platform to rescue the stuck worker, but it could not reach the height needed to rescue him, Hopkins said.
