A 33-year-old man incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Leavenworth died Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Prisons said.

The man, who prison officials identified as Terrace Shaw, was found unresponsive around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Staff and emergency medical services personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Shaw was pronounced dead at a local hospital, the bureau said.

His cause of death is not yet known.

The Bureau of Prisons said Shaw had been in custody in the Leavenworth facility since July, and was serving a 14-year sentence in a federal case out of Tennessee for charges including one count of conspiracy to commit a Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of Hobbs Act Robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

Shaw pleaded guilty to the charges, and admitted to participating in a pair of robberies of drug dealers in June 2013, according to court documents.

The FBI was notified of Shaw’s death.

No other person in custody at the prison or employee was injured, officials said.
