Which states are people moving to Missouri from? Here’s what Census data shows
Missouri continues to grow as a state, according to the U.S. Census.
The state gained 143,688 more people from other states in 2023, the latest U.S. Census data shows. Missouri also gained 23,901 new residents in 2023 who lived outside the U.S. the previous year.
In comparison, about 133,000 Missourians left to go elsewhere in the U.S.
So where else did all those new people come from? Here’s what the data says.
Top states that migrated to Missouri
It’s no surprise that residents from a bordering state decided to call Missouri home in 2023. The census data reveals that Missouri gained the most residents from Kansas in 2023, with 20,692. Kansas also welcomed 18,573 Missourians who decided to move to the Sunflower State in the same time frame.
