Driver seriously injured, two officers hurt after car hits Kansas City police vehicles
A driver was seriously injured after crashing into two Kansas City police vehicles, injuring two officers Sunday morning.
The officers were responding about 4:30 a.m. to an an abandoned truck that had been wrecked near Bannister Road and southbound U.S. 71, .according to Alayna Gonzalez, a spokesperson for the Kansas City police department.
The officers had ordered a tow truck for the abandoned vehicle.
While they waited, their vehicles were struck from behind by a Ford Fusion.
The first police officer’s Ford Explorer was forced forward and hit the other, which then hit the abandoned truck.
The two officers suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Ford Fusion was seriously injured.
Gonzalez said impairment was under investigation in the crash.
