See how voters turned out for first day of in-person advanced voting in Johnson County

Saturday was the first day of in-person advanced voting in Johnson County. A line of people stretched from the door well out into the parking lot shortly before 9 a.m. at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center. These were some of the Johnson County residents anxious to be the first to cast their ballots in the 2024 general election.

The Arts and Heritage Center along Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park is one of 10 advanced voting locations that the Johnson County Election Office opened Saturday for the election. More in-person advanced polling places will open on the two Saturdays, Oct. 26, and Nov. 2, remaining before Election Day. Advanced voting locations will open for weekday voting, Monday through Friday, starting Oct. 21. Each have their own schedules so it is best to check the voting office’s website for locations and operating times before heading off to vote.

Johnson County will offer in-person advanced voting until noon on Monday, Nov. 4, the day before Election Day but will be limited to three venues on that day. Registered voters waiting to vote in-person on Election Day will be required to cast their ballots at their assigned voting precinct polling place.

Kansas also offers mail in ballots as an option for advanced voting in this year’s general election.

Voters registered to vote in Kansas must show a valid photo ID to cast their ballot.
