A viral TikTok Corgi has decided whether Royals or Yankees will win ALDS series
When it began to look like the Royals might lose to the Yankees Wednesday night, a Kansas City fan by the name of @Royals_Jun threw shade at the doggone culprit.
The tweet: “I will blame that corgi who picked Yankees.”
The Corgi in question is Steph Furry, an adorable dog with 1.5 million followers on TikTok and 268,000 on Instagram who picks winners for major sporting events by making trick basketball shots.
And in this case, the chubby little fella with stubby legs predicted the Yankees would win the American League Division Series in four games.
That could happen Thursday night if the Yankees beat the Royals again at Kauffman Stadium.
Fans on both sides knew what Steph Furry, also known as “Fluffy Mamba,” had predicted even before Wednesday’s game.
“Can’t believe if the Yankees lose this series I’m going to be beefing with a (bleeping) Corgi until February 2025,” groused one New York fan on X.
“I’m really over here like the Yankees are gonna win because a corgi in the clock app said so,” tweeted another.
“I bet my house on the Yankees because of this corgi, I’ll be in debt forever if he’s wrong,” joked another.
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi from Houston, Texas found fame during the COVID lockdown when its owner, Denny Ku, taught him to shoot hoops and make trick shots, like bouncing a ball against a wall or lamp before making it into a hoop.
One of the dog’s favorite games? Sitting at the top of the stairs in their house and using its long Corgi nose to bat an inflatable toy basketball down the stairs into baskets at the bottom.
That’s the trick it uses to pick winners of major sporting events — MLB, NBA, NFL, college football and soccer matches, even medal counts at the Paris Olympics over the summer.
How accurate is he?
Last year he freaked out NBA fans and grabbed international buzz when he correctly predicted the outcome of the first five games of the Western Conference semifinals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.
And heads-up, Chiefs fans. Steph Furry has also predicted the winner of the next Super Bowl.
Kansas City might have a bone to pick with him.
