The Kansas City Royals have made the playoffs for the first time in nine years, putting them two wins away from hosting a postseason game at Kauffman Stadium. They’ll have to defeat the Baltimore Orioles in a best-of-three series in the American League Wild Card round starting Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Each game will be played in Baltimore and broadcast on ESPN television channels. Here’s the schedule:

  • Game 1: Tuesday at 3:08 p.m. on ESPN2

  • Game 2: Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 3:38 p.m. on ESPN

  • Game 3 (if necessary): Thursday, Oct. 3, at 3:08 p.m. on ESPN

For fans who may not have cable or streaming access, most bars and restaurants open will be showing the game. Sites around Kansas City will also host watch parties to cheer on the Royals if you’re looking to share the experience with other fans.

Power & Light District

The Royals are hosting a watch party inside the Power & Light District’s KC Live! Block. The venue’s lower level is reserved for season ticket holders, front office staff and team partners, but the catwalk and upper-level sections are open to all, according to the Royals.

The restaurants surrounding the entertainment venue, like McFadden’s and Johnny’s Tavern, will be showing the game and open to the public, a spokesperson for the Power & Light District said.

The gates open at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Wednesday. A watch party for Thursday is not confirmed, since the venue is waiting to see the results from Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games.

The Ship

The West Bottoms speakeasy will use its projector to broadcast every Royals game to fans in attendance. It’s free and first-come, first-served for people heading to The Ship, 1221 Union Ave.

SERV

An outdoor event space with big screens, pickleball courts and food and drink options, SERV in Overland Park is hosting watch parties for the games, free for all ages to enter. More details will be announced soon, the event space said on Instagram.

A group of fans can reserve a private space on SERV’s website to watch the game. The space is located at 9051 Metcalf Ave.
