A global automotive seating manufacturer announced it will lay off hundreds of people at its Riverside facility in Platte County.

Adient reported the company will lay off 172 employees between November and next January, according to a W.A.R.N. notice filed Thursday. One of the company’s customers completed its production needs, causing the layoffs.

The layoffs will come in waves with the first round laying off 109 employees on November 11 and the remaining 63 employees on January 6, 2025.

Adient did not respond for comment.

In June 2021, the company had 213 layoffs, citing ongoing automotive supply chain issues.

The company delivers more than 20 million seats into vehicles every year and operates more than 200 manufacturing sites in 29 countries, according to the company profile.

The facility is located in the industrial district at 4101 N. Mattox Road in Riverside.
