Crews have begun repairs after isolating a gas leak caused by a large gas-line break in Raymore on Friday morning, city officials said.

The South Metro Fire District responded shortly before 9 a.m. to a reported gas-line break in a field south of Hubach Hill Road and Brook Parkway. The leak is not near any homes, officials said, but area residents have been notified of the break.

Repairs began Friday afternoon after the leak was reduced, the fire district said on its X account. All emergency crews were cleared, and pipeline crews will be working for an undetermined amount of time for repairs.

Southern Star, the gas company which operates the pipeline, responded to the scene with the fire district. The gas company was notified shortly before 9 a.m. of the break, which was determined to be caused by a third-party striking the gas line, according to a news release.

Crews have not identified any hazards as they continue to monitor the air, the fire district said on its X account on Friday.

Erin Kamuf, a spokesperson with Southern Star, said in an email that no customers were impacted on Friday.

“All personnel on site have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported,” Southern Star said in a news release. “Southern Star would like to thank local first responders for their assistance in responding to the event.”

No other information was immediately available. The city of Raymore and fire district said they will provide updates as they become available.
