Detectives are investigating after a body was found near Little Blue Trace County Park in rural Jackson County Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 7:15 a.m. near Blue Mills and Old Blue Mills roads on a report of a body that was found, Jackson County Sheriff Darrryl Forté said on social media.

A witness who was jogging in the park allegedly found the remains of a white woman near a trail, Forté said on Facebook.

Detectives were processing the scene Wednesday for evidence. An investigation is ongoing and a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
