It’s local artists only selling at this Kansas City art fair: What to know before you go

Art Westport might not be as large or as old as the Plaza Art Fair, which will return for its 93rd year Sept. 20-22, but it has one claim to fame that the Plaza show can’t match: All the artists are local.

More than 30,000 visitors are expected to attend the 44th annual Art Westport, which will run Friday, Sept. 6, to Sunday, Sept. 8, in the historic Westport district. The show is restricted to artists living within 80 miles of downtown Kansas City.

Here is what you need to know about the show.

What can I expect to see at Art Westport?

In addition to more than 135 booths offering paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, photography and more, the festival will have live music and children’s activities. Westport’s restaurants and shops will be open throughout all three days.

When and where will it operate?

The fair will run 4-9 p.m. on Friday., Sept. 6; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, on Westport and Pennsylvania streets in the heart of the Westport district.

Is there admission?

No. Art Westport is free to attend.

Where can I park?

Parking is available curbside along the streets and in several lots around Westport. The Manor Square Garage and some other lots charge fees on festival days.

What about the weather?

The show will take place rain or shine.
