A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Kansas City Saturday night.

The pedestrian was crossing east at the intersection of 33rd Street and Prospect Avenue when they were hit in the middle of the roadway by a Dodge Charger headed north on Prospect Avenue, according to Phil DiMartino, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

The driver of the car immediately stopped and remained at the scene, police said, while the pedestrian was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

This marks the 62nd traffic fatality in 2024 compared to 59 at this time last year, according to DiMartino. The investigation is ongoing.
