North Kansas City boil water advisory lifted after four days, water line repairs
Officials lifted a boil water advisory for North Kansas City water customers Sunday evening.
The boil advisory was put in place Thursday after a water main break in the city’s water system. The main water system rupture happened in Macken Park, causing other minor breaks around the city.
Kim Nakahodo, a spokesperson for the city of North Kansas City, said testing at multiple sites confirmed water quality met the proper standards, and the state’s Department of Natural Resources approved lifting the advisory Sunday evening. The city announced repairs had been completed Saturday morning.
Nakahodo said officials were advising residents and businesses to run cold water for at least five minutes to flush their water lines and to discard any ice made in an ice maker. She also advised checking manufacturer recommendations for cleaning or replacing water filtration systems and ice makers and cleaning any aerators, or metal screens that screw on to faucets.
“We would like to thank North Kansas City residents and businesses that were affected by the water advisory for their patience and following all safety guidelines,” Nakahodo said. “The City upholds our commitment to providing clean drinking water to our community. We appreciate the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ assistance in ensuring water quality standards were met for the public health and safety of our community.”
