‘Can’t wait for what’s to come.’ Hallmark stars share peek at Chiefs Christmas movie
The lead actors in the Hallmark Christmas movie about the Kansas City Chiefs have shared behind-the-scenes glimpses as filming begins at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Hallmark Channel favorites Tyler Hynes and Hunter King are in town filming “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” Cast and crew filmed on Independence Square over the weekend, and both actors have posted photos and video from Arrowhead on their Instagram accounts.
On July 4, in a post highlighting some of his Hallmark projects, Hynes shared brief footage of movie cameras being set up inside Arrowhead and a group of people in the stadium parking lot.
“There’s been some absolutely lovely individuals making every step of these journeys unforgettable. To the incredible folks thus far, thank you for every moment. To everyone who’s reactions to these adventures has made it a party,” he wrote, adding praying hands and a heart emoji.
“And to the new friends, here’s to you. This next one will be interesting :)“
On his Instagram stories, he also shared a photo of the words “Reserved Head Coach” painted on pavement.
The movie-making will take place over the coming weeks. The movie stars King and Hynes, both Hallmark movie veterans, as well as Ed Begley Jr., a “Better Call Saul” star and environmental activist.
A photo taken by a bystander over the weekend showed all three on the set on the historic Independence Square, which has been decorated for the city’s Christmas in July events and the movie.
This is the synopsis for the movie:
“Alana Higman (King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest.
“Derrick (Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists.
“As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s (Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick — unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”
King announced her arrival in Kansas City with an Instagram story of Hallmark’s headquarters, writing, “Oh hey @hallmark.”
On Friday she posted photos of herself at a Royals game with the caption: “The best of Kansas City. Thank you @hallmarkchannel Can’t wait for what’s to come!”
Like Hynes, she shared a photo of the movie crew inside Arrowhead.
Fans have posted dozens of comments on the actors’ social media, welcoming them to “Chiefs Kingdom,” telling King they miss her on “The Young and the Restless” and suggesting places to eat in Kansas City.
“Welcome to Kansas City. I’m just on the next exit up I would love to run into you just to say hi and take a selfie. Have a great time here and don’t forget to try Jack stack BBQ. Oh and for sure be sure you try Gus’s chicken you will never eat any other fried chicken again. And their potato salad is to die for,” one fan wrote to King.
“Oh man, this is gonna be soooo good!!!!” another fan wrote on her Instagram post.
Hynes also attended a Royals game last week and ran into some very enthusiastic fans, writing on Instagram, “highlight of the night was being asked for photos in the stadium bathroom :)”
