A 2-year-old boy who drowned in a Jackson County swimming pool last week has been identified as Carson James Bryant-Ferrantello.

The boy drowned in a pool in his own backyard, property records show. Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Bryant-Ferrantello home on East Parent Road around 11:50 a.m. June 27, The Star previously reported.

Carson was discovered in the pool by a family member, according to Jackson County Sherriff Darryl Forté. The toddler was pronounced dead at a local hospital that afternoon.

“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of this young life,” Forté said in a Tuesday statement. “...We continue to urge everyone to take all necessary precautions around standing water to reduce the risks.”

Carson was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, before his family moved to Oak Grove, according to an obituary shared by the Bryant-Ferrantello family online. He is survived by five older siblings.

Carson will be the second child his parents Kevin and Marissa will bury, following the death of his brother Jack.

A bubbly child, Carson was particularly close with his father, according to the obituary.

“He was always happy and full of life,” the boy’s family wrote. “Carson had the prettiest smile and loved all of his siblings.”

Carson’s funeral will be at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. His death remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
