Woman, 95, dies week after being injured by vehicle backing from Waldo parking stall

A 95-year-old woman who died over the weekend from injuries sustained when a vehicle backing out of a parking stall hit her outside a Waldo restaurant in mid-July has been identified as Marie Geising.

The accident happened about 9 p.m. July 18 in the parking lot of Governor Stumpy’s Grill House in the 300 block of East Gregory Boulevard, police said.

Police said a motorist backing out of a parking stall felt a slight bump. However, the motorist thought she had hit a bag of trash or another object. She continued backing out and pulled out into the street before she saw people waving at her. The motorist turned her vehicle around and pulled back into the parking lot, where she saw Geising on the pavement.

Geising sustained a left temporal hemorrhage and a fractured hip, according to a police report. Geising died over the weekend, police said.
