Human remains found two months ago in Lansing, Kansas are those of a Leavenworth man who has been missing for almost two years, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.

The remains were identified as Derrick U. Collins, who went missing in June 2022, according to police. He was 56-years-old at the time of his disappearance.

Skeletal remains were found Feb. 18 near the Leavenworth Country Club. Lansing Police requested KBI’s assistance in the investigation.

While final autopsy results are pending, no trauma was noted during the autopsy, KBI said in a news release Wednesday.

In the release, KBI said there is no foul play suspected in Collins’ death.
