One person died and three others were injured in a crash near 63rd Street in Kansas City Friday evening, police said.

Officers responded around 7:34 p.m. to 63rd Street and Missouri Highway 350, where a red Mazda traveling at a high rate of speed drove over a concrete center median and struck a concrete bridge support.

The impact caused the Mazda to rotate into the lanes of 63rd Street and strike a Buick traveling west. In a news release, Kansas City police said the driver of the Mazda hadn’t been wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger of the Mazda was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, police said. The driver and front seat passenger of the Buick were taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
