Kansas City police were investigating a two-car crash Friday involving a marked patrol vehicle that sent one officer and two other people to the hospital.

The wreck happened around 1:30 p.m. near 57th Street and Troost Avenue. The officer, the other driver and a front-seat passenger had injuries described as not life-threatening, according to police.

All were taken by ambulance to area hospitals and listed in stable medical condition on Friday, police said.

According to Kansas City police, the officer was driving the patrol vehicle east on 57th without lights and sirens and not in response to an emergency. The other involved car, a Chrysler, was southbound on Troost.

Police said only the two vehicles “collided” in the southbound lanes of Troost. Further information was not immediately available from police.

The crash was being investigated by the police department’s Accident Investigation Section. It remained ongoing Friday evening.
