Driver identified after being ejected from vehicle, killed in Overland Park crash

Police have identified the driver who died after a crash in Overland Park Wednesday morning.

James A. Johnson, 60, of Kansas City died after being ejected from his vehicle, police said.

Overland Park police responded around 6:49 a.m. to the 7200 block of eastbound I-435 Highway on reports of a two-vehicle crash, according to a news release from police.

One of the vehicles left the road and rolled several times before ejecting the “unrestrained” driver, police said. Johnson was taken to the hospital but later died.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with the information is asked to contact the Overland Park Traffic Safety Unit at 913-895-6300.
