Kansas City man dead in motorcycle accident

A 25-year-old Kansas City man died Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a car on 48th Street, according to police.

Anthony R. Hoedl died at the hospital after the accident, which occurred about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 48th Street and Bennington Avenue, near Hidden Valley Park.

Police said a black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and a Chevrolet Impala were traveling at high speeds west on 48th Street when the motorcycle attempted to turn right out of the left lane, crossing the path of the Impala.

The vehicles collided.

The driver of the Impala was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, and two passengers of the Impala refused medical treatment.

The incident was Kansas City’s 32nd death from a vehicle accident this year, police said. At this time last year, the city had counted 24.
