Taylor Swift electrifies Golden Globes red carpet in green in last-minute appearance
Eight minutes before the Golden Globes ceremony began on Sunday, her fans in Swiftie world were losing it on social media.
Where is Taylor????? Where the heck is Taylor?
And then, with mere minutes to go before the start of the show, Taylor Swift arrived in a shimmering, slinky, floor-length green Gucci gown that screamed old Hollywood with diamonds dangling from her ears. Her Christian Louboutin heels matched the gown. The gown hugged her toned, tour-ready physique.
Swifties took the snaky, metallic vibe a tease to the snake theme of her next re-release, “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” they’re waiting for.
Swift was nominated for a fifth Golden Globe for her Eras Tour concert film in a new category for cinematic and box office achievement.
Achievement seems like such an understatement when considering the year that Time’s Person of the Year just finished.
According to Billboard’s calculations, she grossed nearly $2 billion from music sales, concert tickets, merchandise and movie tickets. And that was just through early December.
So yeah, green seems oh so apppriate for her to wear.
Hers was the most highly anticipated red carpet moment of the new awards season, thanks to her fans. And no, boyfriend Travis Kelce wasn’t with her. Sorry, Swifties.
He was up the road at SoFi Stadium, where the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers, 13-12. The tight end sat out the game, resting for the postseason, as did Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Green stood out on the red carpet. Swift’s BFF Selena Gomez and Florence Pugh both wore bright red.
“Barbie” star Margot Robbie wore a figure-hugging, sequined Armani gown that reproduced the dress worn by the Superstar Barbie 1977 doll, she told Variety’s Marc Malkin on the red carpet.
Robbie wore a boa made of fluffy pink netting that offered more style than warmth. Several women commented that it was chilly Sunday in Beverly Hills, with temperatures in the low 50s. At one point, a jacket got passed around from actress to actress as they tried to stay warm after their red carpet photos.
“I just woke up and I thought maybe this would be appropriate tonight,” Robbie said.
Jennifer Lopez, who during her red carpet interview couldn’t remember the designer who made her dress, also wore a snug-fitting pastel pink gown with an eye-catching stole made of giant, flower-shaped ruffles.
Even Kansas City’s Jason Sudeikis, nominated for “Ted Lasso,” wore pink Nikes with his dark suit. He played it low-key, opting for a purple sweater under his suit jacket.
Swift’s green gown continued a streak of winning Golden Globes red carpet appearances.
She last walked the Golden Globes red carpet in January 2020, right before the COVID pandemic hit.
She stunned in a teal-colored, custom silk gown with a triangle cutout at the waist and a long train by Italian fashion house Etro. Giant yellow flowers on the voluminous skirt made her look like walking sunshine.
She wore an elegant, custom, eggplant-colored Donna Karan Atelier gown with a mermaid skirt in 2013. It looked demure from the front but it had a plunging back that turned heads.
In 2014 she went “superglamorous and unapologetically girlie” in a two-toned, strapless Carolina Herrera gown with a big bow in the back above a sweeping train, wrote PopSugar lifestyle website.
