Update: Officials canceled the Silver Alert Tuesday night after a man believed to be Jerry Dean Adams was found dead in Adams’ vehicle in Kansas City. Authorities have not ruled the death a homicide and are waiting to hear from the coroner on the cause and manner of the man’s death.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation issued a statewide Silver Alert Tuesday for a missing man from Lawrence.

Jerry Dean Adams, 73, is likely driving a white 2002 Chevrolet van with Kansas plates 008MFS. The vehicle was last seen leaving Lawrence on Dec. 11 around 9:15 a.m.

Adams is about 5 feet and 9 inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray and black hair. He is diabetic and has a heart condition.

Anyone who sees Adams or his vehicle should call 911 immediately. Other information about the case can be reported to Lawrence police at 785-832-7501.
