Independence man died and four others injured in crash Sunday morning in Jackson County

An Independence man died and four others were seriously injured after a crash Sunday morning in Jackson County.

Troopers responded to the crash around 9:15 a.m. to Missouri 7 Highway at the Missouri 150 Highway junction, according to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Mark A. Fields, 63, was driving northbound in a 2019 GMC Savana 3500, when a westbound 2012 Nissan Juke failed to yield and struck the passenger side of his van. The Nissan then struck the front of a southbound 2013 Subaru Outback, and Fields’ vehicle overturned.

Fields was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan and the driver and two passengers in the Subaru were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
