Travis Kelce really did have fried chicken on Thanksgiving — Swifties and KFC ate it up
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and girlfriend Taylor Swift must coordinate rendezvous between playing (football or music) in sold-out stadiums.
Sometimes it doesn’t work out. Like this Thanksgiving, for example, when Kelce said ahead of time that he’d be spending the holiday alone, eating Kentucky Fried Chicken.
“I won’t have anybody here,” he told his brother, Jason Kelce, on Wednesday’s episode of their podcast “New Heights.”
“If you want to make a quick trip, you’re welcome at the house, Trav,” his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center, responded.
“Thanks, man.”
Bottom line for Swifties: The pop star wasn’t planning on traveling to Kansas City for turkey and cranberry sauce. Instead, Kelce spent his day with Colonel Sanders.
The New Heights X, formerly Twitter, page wished fans a happy Thanksgiving, giving a shoutout to everyone having “#KFCwithTravis.”
No one was too surprised, then, when Kelce’s friend, Aric Jones, posted photos of boxes of KFC on his Instagram story Thursday, tagging his location in Kansas City.
Kelce wasn’t tagged in the post, but X took off.
“HELP Travis wasn’t lying about having KFC,” one user tweeted.
The chicken chain reposted the tweet.
The Swifties ate it up, much like Travis with a piece of fried chicken.
“Thank you for your service and for making his Thanksgiving much better,” another user said. To which KFC replied, “He made ours better, too.”
The chain went so far as to respond to one user calling Kelce’s dinner a “Happy ending” despite his being away from Swift.
So where was she? Still in Brazil, it seems. The singer reportedly traveled from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paolo on Tuesday, the day after she ended a three-concert stint that was sabotaged by sweltering heat and led to the death of one young fan.
She begins another three days of concerts in Sao Paolo on Friday. After Sunday, she won’t begin performing again until Feb. 7, leaving plenty of time for “the guy on the Chiefs.”
The pair plans to spend Christmas and New Year’s together, Us Weekly reports.
“Travis has already started Christmas shopping and has some really special surprises [for Taylor] in store,” a source told Us Weekly.
Perhaps one of said “surprises” includes jamming out to Kelce’s new Christmas single, “Fairytale of Philadelphia,” which he made with his brother. As of this month, Swift isn’t the only musician in the relationship.
