One person was seriously injured after a crash with a semi-truck in a Kansas City suburb
One person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck Wednesday in Sugar Creek.
Kansas City police officers met Sugar Creek police at the scene around 11:28 p.m. near Westbound U.S. 210 Highway and Pleasant Avenue, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
A white BMW was traveling at a high speed on the highway, when it rear-ended a Freightliner truck. The impact pushed the Freightliner off the highway and into an embankment and caused the BMW to flip onto its roof.
The BMW driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The Freightliner driver had minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Impairment is under investigation as a factor in the crash.
