Lee’s Summit wants community members to help name its fleet of snowplows before winter weather rolls in.

The city is holding its first-ever snowplow naming contest in hopes of raising awareness of the work city crews do to keep roads safe and to remind residents to steer clear when they see a plow on the road. City crews manage and clear more than 1,000 miles of roadway during each snow event, according to Lee’s Summit officials.

Once the winners are chosen, the names will be placed on the city’s snow removal equipment for the 2023-2024 season.

Residents can submit names now through Nov. 7 at cityofLS.net/snowplow. Winning entries will be announced on the city’s website and on social media Nov. 20.

Entries will be accepted in the order received, and duplicates will be excluded. Individuals and groups can enter multiple times, but can only use one name per entry.
