3 dead after driver loses control of car, crashes into tree Sunday: Kansas City police

Three people were killed early Sunday morning in Kansas City after a car struck a tree, police said.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. when the driver of a black Ford Taurus, who was headed north on Northbound Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard “at a very high rate of speed,” lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree near East 45th Terrace, according to an initial crash report from the Kansas City Police Department.

The driver and both passengers were killed in the crash, police said.

So far, 75 people have been killed in crashes this year in Kansas City, according to KCPD.

No other information was immediately available.
