A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday evening after failing to properly navigate the Jackson Curve on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, according to police.

The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Jackson Avenue, Kansas City police said in a written statement.

The motorcyclist, who was operating a Harley Davidson, lost control and went off the roadway, police said. The driver continued onto the right shoulder, struck a concrete barrier and was thrown from the vehicle.

Paramedics arrived and took the motorcyclist to the hospital in critical condition.

Two lanes of traffic on I-70 were closed and reopened two hours later as Kansas City police investigated the crash site. The investigation continued Friday night.
