A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with critical injuries Thursday after colliding with another vehicle near Kansas City’s Northeast Industrial District.

Officers were dispatched at 3:23 p.m. to the crash site at East Front Street and Universal Avenue, Kansas City police said in a written statement.

The motorcyclist was driving a Harley Davidson Sportster west on Front when the driver of a Kia SUV was turning left, according to police. The motorcyclist struck the SUV and was thrown from the vehicle.

Police said the driver of the Kia was not injured. The motorcyclist remained in serious condition late Thursday afternoon.
