2 critically injured after car crashes into hospital building Sunday in Kansas City
Two people were hospitalized Sunday after a speeding car crashed into a building on the campus of a Kansas City hospital, authorities said.
The driver of a white Toyota Corolla was headed northbound on Olive Street “at a very high rate of speed,” according to an initial report from the Kansas City Police Department.
As the driver crossed over Meyer Boulevard just before 11:30 a.m., they drove into the west side of the parking lot of Research Medical Center at 2316 East Meyer Boulevard where they hit an empty gray Hyundai Elantra before hitting a brick storage building, police said.
Both the driver and the passenger in the front seat were hospitalized with critical injuries, but are in stable condition, police said.
No one else was injured.
A police investigation into the crash is ongoing.
