One person has life-threatening injuries following a nine-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Overland Park, police said.

Officers responded after 7:15 a.m. to the crash on southbound Metcalf Avenue approaching West 115th Street, said Officer John Lacy, a spokesman for the Overland Park Police Department.

The crash began when one vehicle stopped suddenly, causing a chain reaction crash with eight other vehicles that rear-ended each other.

Two people were injured in the crash, including one who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Lacy said.
