Hispanic empowerment group hosts first UG development event for Spanish speakers in KCK
Wyandotte County’s Unified Government announced its first community engagement event for Spanish speakers to voice their opinions on planning and development policy Wednesday.
Attendees will be able to speak directly to UG Planning Department staff and third-party consultants working on county development as part of the PlanKCK initiative, which began in early spring, according to Krystal McFeders, a spokeswoman for the local government.
The event will kick-off around 6 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. on July 19 at the Hispanic empowerment nonprofit El Centro, located on 1330 South 30th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, McFeders said.
Business owners and individuals are encouraged to attend to share their perspective on the challenges facing Kansas City, Kansas. Free childcare and dinner is available at the event.
Other PlanKCK events covered topics ranging from Citywide Historic Preservation to Economic Development and housing.
Anyone looking to sign up for the event can do so here.
Launched by UG Planning + Design, PlanKCK aims to collect community feedback and present any findings at a Memorial Hall “Prosperity Roundtable” on Aug. 14.
Consultants and PlanKCK team members will then discuss a new ordinance focused on benefiting community members known as the Community Benefits Agreement Ordinance.
Kansas City, Kansas, community members can sign up for that event here.
