Motorcyclist critically injured in Tuesday afternoon crash in Independence, police say
A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday in a crash involving one other vehicle on U.S. Highway 40 in Independence, according to police.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. near the highway intersection at East 36th Terrace, Independence police Sgt. Steven Boles said in a statement.
The motorcyclist was headed west on the highway and rear-ended a Buick sedan that had slowed to make a left turn, according to police. The impact threw the motorcyclist from the vehicle.
Paramedics took the motorcyclist. to the hospital, Boles said. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, remained in critical condition Tuesday evening.
The driver of the Buick was not injured.
