KC Streetcar service remains suspended for second day as crews make track repairs
Riders of KC Streetcar will be boarding RideKC buses for the second day in a row as crews work to make repairs to a damaged rail in downtown, KC Streetcar announced on Twitter Wednesday.
The buses started providing the service along the streetcar route at 6 a.m. Wednesday at about 20 minute intervals, KC Streetcar said.
While the buses stop at designated streetcar stops, the Power & Light northbound one at 14th and Main streets will remain closed. Riders were encouraged to use either the Kauffman Center northbound or Metro Center stops.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we assess track repairs and related service schedules,” the streetcar said.
KC Streetcar was still assessing the damage and coming up with a repair plan, said Donna Mandelbaum, a spokeswoman for KC Streetcar. They planned to release more information about the repairs later Wednesday.
The streetcar service was suspended on Independence Day when a track became damaged near the bridge over Interstate 670 near Main Street and Truman Road North.
RideKC buses were brought in to provide service to riders, including those headed to the Stars and Stripes picnic at the National WWI Museum and Memorial.
