Boil water advisory issued for residents in Arbores subdivision in Lee’s Summit
Update: The boil advisory was lifted on Thursday, July 6.
Residents in Lee’s Summit’s Arbores subdivision need to boil their water, the city said Monday.
Lee’s Summit Water Utilities issued a precautionary advisory after repairs to the water system led to a loss of pressure, which could cause a contamination of the distribution system.
Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes and let it cool or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.
Stored water and ice should be discarded, the city said.
Inadequately treated water can cause bacteria, viruses and parasites. Symptoms include diarrhea, cramps, nausea and headaches, among others. Anyone experiencing symptoms that persist should consider seeking medical attention.
