Kansas City police responded to a Friday night crash near the intersection of East Truman Road and Agnes Avenue, where a man in a wheelchair was seriously injured.

A man in a wheelchair was left with serious injuries after being struck by a car Friday night, according to Kansas City police.

Officers responded to calls of an 8:18 p.m. crash near the intersection of East Truman Road and Agnes Avenue, said Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a spokesman for the department.

An investigation determined a Lexus traveling east in the second lane of Truman Road crashed into a man in a wheelchair, who police believe was attempting to cross the street, Becchina said.

The man flew out of his wheelchair and landed in the roadway.

He was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured in the collision.
