A driver is critically injured after losing control of their car Saturday night in Kansas City.

Officers responded to the one-vehicle collision just before 7 p.m. near Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and East 45th Street, said Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman with the Kansas City Police Department, in a news release.

A red Pontiac G5 was traveling south on Cleaver at a high speed when the driver lost control for unknown reasons, Becchina said. The car went off the roadway, flipped several times and ejected the driver before returning to the road.

The driver has critical injuries. They were not wearing a seat belt.
