Tornado watch issued for counties north and east of Kansas City until Friday evening

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for central and north central Missouri until Friday evening.

Lafayette, Ray and Clinton counties are included in the watch, which will remain in effect until 8 p.m.

Surrounding counties, including Jackson and Johnson, remain under a wind advisory until 7 p.m. due to high gusts potentially reaching upwards of 55 miles per hour.

Severe weather continues to push east, as another line of storms develops in eastern Kansas and northwest Missouri. The NWS tweeted a photo of the weather radar movement after noon Friday, showing lines of storms rolling through.

Dime-sized hail was reported in Pleasant Hill Friday morning, the NWS reported.

The Kansas City metro is under a red flag warning until 9 p.m.
