Liberty woman seriously injured after UTV flips over near Shell Knob Saturday

A Liberty woman was seriously injured Saturday after the utility terrain vehicle she was on flipped over, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Officials responded just before 6 p.m. to the crash on Fish N Fun Road about five miles south of Shell Knob, Missouri, according to a highway patrol crash report.

Mitzi Mathews, 67, was seriously injured after the 2007 Kawasaki Mule ran off the right side of the road and overturned. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Springfield. According to her daughter, she has four broken ribs and is expected to recover fully.

The driver, Steven Mathews, was taken to the Kimberling City Police Department. He was not injured.
