Kansas City motorcyclist suffers life threatening injuries after Saturday night crash
A driver suffered life threatening injuries Saturday night after their motorcycle crashed into another vehicle, closing down a Kansas City street for over an hour.
Police responded to calls of a collision at 6:34 p.m. near 23rd Street and Blue Valley Park Road, according to Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
An investigation determined a Chrysler 3000 was traveling west on 23rd Street when a Honda motorcycle drove by on the yellow lines separating the east and west lanes of the roadway.
The driver of the Chrysler crashed into the motorcycle. The two vehicles veered into the lanes of traffic heading east. Shortly after the motorcycle slid off the roadway.
As a result of the collision, authorities closed down 23rd Street in both directions for an hour and a half.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.
